My Everyday Makeup Routine

Ok, I might not even get away with calling this “My Everyday Makeup Routine”.. Because I don’t consider this makeup?

Basically, for my everyday routine, I don’t wear foundation. All I wear is my Olay Moisturizer (normal skin), Rimmel London Scandalous Mascara and a nude coloured lipstick/lipgloss. (Side note: This is during the working week from Monday to Friday. On the weekend makeup routine is a whole other story!)

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t love makeup. Its more that my skin hates makeup.. I would say I have combination/oily skin so any makeup on my skin for longer then a few hours just causes it to go shiny and then as a result I break out in pimples the following day. Even after all the foundations I have tried I am still yet to find the perfect everyday foundation that doesn’t cause me to breakout in pimples (although Lioele’s BB cream and Revlon colorstay actually do a really great job).

Not only that. I have to admit, I am pretty lazy. To put foundation on every morning would just mean less sleep and I love my sleep too much haha!

Anyways, here’s how it usually looks. I never usually post photos of myself without makeup just because I hate the unevenness of my skin.. but anyways, here goes..

Have a good one guys and speak soon :)

Pro Tip: Dress your food. Keep it interesting.

I know it can’t be just me who gets bored of eating the same food day in, day out. So todays post is about keeping your diet interesting. DRESS YOUR FOOD!

The better health channel tells us, “Eating many different foods helps maintain a healthy, well-balanced and interesting diet that provides adequate nutrition.”

Ok so the ultimate goal for anyone is to eat as much junk food as possible whilst maintaining a Miranda Kerr figure. Am I right? But let’s be honest, that is NEVER going to happen!

So my pro tip for you to keep motivated whilst on your diet/clean eating journey is to mix it up. Make your breakfast so deliciously appealing that even if  the choice for fast food was available you would still pick your healthy meal. Its honestly as simple as taking a bit of extra time and dressing up your food. Sick of a boring fruit salad? Put them on skewers. Sick of boring porridge? Cover your bowl with seasonal fruit and nuts. It’s so simple!!!

And what’s better? You will be able to proudly upload a picky of your creation to instagram and hashtag healthy eating and watch the likes roll in. :)

Eating healthy can be challenging. Just remember to mix it up and keep things interesting. Dress up your food, your body (and your instagram followers) will thanks you for it :)

Get to Know Me: The Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hey everyone!

Thought I would take this opportunity to let you guys get to know me better whilst also taking the opportunity to do my first ever tag! I’m super excited about it so here goes…

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

I wouldn’t say curly and I wouldn’t say straight. I would say FRIZZ. It’s kinda a wavy, frizzy mess to be honest. So annoying but as it’s gotten longer it’s been a lot easier to work with which is good.

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

A salon. I have a really good relationship with my hairdresser and I wouldn’t let anyone else touch my hair. I have been going to her for around 10 years which is basically half of my life! She’s very reasonably priced and I love just going there for a chat to. I’m one of those people who likes to try crazy colours also so she has a lot of fun (pink, purple, red, black, brown and blonde)

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?

I love changing up my hair. But I am a “throw it up in a bun” kinda girl. I just get lazy.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?

I do my own. It’s what I consider my “me time” I get to relax and spoil myself. Also get to get away from the craziness that is life. I will get fake nails for special events like formals and birthdays though.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?

When I was super organised I would paint my nails nearly every day. It was crazy. But now ill paint them at least once a week.

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?

Toenails always have polish on them. Why not?!

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

If I am in a hurry, I will slap on some BB cream (lioele of course) and mascara and be ready in a minute. But if I am going out, I like to take my time. Maybe up to 30 minutes.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

Bit of both. If I am doing a smokey black eye (which can get messy) I will do eyes first to avoid having to redo my makeup if eyeshadow gets everywhere. But mostly the face first if eyes are being kept simple.

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?

Lately I have been collecting like a crazy lady. So probably a collector.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

This is one thing that I am going to have to get better at. I can’t really put them on myself so only if I get my makeup done will I wear falsies. Or if my sister helps me put them on. Mini goal is to be able to apply them myself by the end of August – challenge accepted.

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?

Not at all. I don’t wear makeup to work (only mascara) so hardly will I ever do a full face of makeup. Only if I am trying things out for my blog or actually going out to an event or clubbing.

12. Do you wear makeup when you’re home alone or with family?

Never. Love makeup but hate the feel of it on my face so not at all.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?

All the time. I generally only wear makeup on weekends or if I am going out.

14. How many high-end products do you have?

I haven’t counted to be honest. I would mostly have cheap products as I am a uni student on minimum wage haha. But I do have a few. I picked up some Benefit cosmetics recently and I have a Christian Dior lip gloss and Estee Lauder powder which I love. I mostly tend to buy cheaper or more reasonably priced makeup as most of it is just as good quality if not better.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you’re getting dressed?

I’m so a last minute kinda gal. I dress based on how I feel so I usually leave it to the last minute.

16. How often do you change your handbag?

I have one main bag- my black mimco bag (photo in my OOTD#1 post)- that I love to death. Its so amazing. I wanted it for over a year so it is my baby. But if I am going to the shops or out clubbing I will use one of my clutches.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

I wake up around 6.30am and am usually in bed by 10pm. Loveee my sleep haha.

18. How often or when do you workout?

At one point I was super disciplined and went up to 3 times a week but since being on holidays I haven’t gotten back into the swing of it so I haven’t been in over a month (oops!).

19. Left handed or right handed?

20. How tall are you?

Around 163cm.

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?

Not at all. I know a bit of Chinese and French from school but that’s about it.

22. How many pets do you have?

One dog. His name is Blake and I love him with all my heart.

23. How often are you on WordPress?

WordPress is my new go-to app. I love it. I love writing my own posts but even when I’m not posting I’m reading everyone else’s posts. I love looking through the “beauty” or “recipe” tag and just looking for posts that way.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

Not really. I read other blog posts but not the comments unless it’s something that’s grabs my attention.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?

Yes. I am one of those people who unless they write lists forgets everything so yes I do.

26. How did you come up with your blog name?

Its brittersblog so basically my nickname with blog at the end haha. Pretty lame but I’m going to roll with it :)

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I have quite a few cameras. Its definitely a hobby of mine so I have a Nikon D90, Panasonic waterproof camera and a sony digital. Also I do use my iphone, ipod and ipad so take a lot of my photos (especially for my blog as its so easy).

28. How often do you clean your house?

I live at home. And my mum is a stay at home mum so I am pretty lucky in this department (love you mum!)

29. What’s your favorite colour?

Electric blue

30. Do you swear?

Yes. It’s a bad habit I need to work on haha!

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?

Working. GHEY!

Wow! Hopefully that gives you more insight to what I am light :) I tag anyone who’s interested in doing this for their blog. Hope everyone has a great day :)

OOTD#1 Casual Friday

I wanted to try something new and do an Outfit Of The Day post. So bare with me if this seems a bit dodgy as it is my first attempt :) So todays outfit is what I am wearing to work for casual Friday. So usually everyone wear jeans and a nice top – so this is the look I created.

Today I am wearing:

–      blue jeggings (for those who don’t know this is a mix between jeans and legging and OMG they are so comfy – $35AUD

–      a white Ralph Lauren polo I bought while I was in china ($9AUD)

–      a black and white striped sweater ($10AUD

–      and my beloved patent turnlock zip top mimco bag ($499AUD

The make-up I decided to do is very simple and I used the products below to create this casual Friday look.

Talk soon lovelies :)

I CONFESS!! I have a serious addiction!!

Without a doubt I can admit to you guys that I am one of those people that gets obsessed with things. Right now its makeup. Six months ago it was nail polish. During that obsessive phase I collected probably 100 nail polishes. I mean, I still love my nail polishes but makeup is my current obsession. So as a crazy obsessed makeup freak I did what any crazy lady would do and went and bought some more makeup. So this is just a quick haul to show you what I got.

Until now I had never owned any benefit cosmetics so I thought its time I opened my collection up to this amazing brand. I have heard so many good reviews (on here and on yourtube) on the POREfessional primer and the high beam  highlighter. So I bought the full sized POREfessional but decided to get the high beam as part of a pack as is came with a blusher, lip gloss and the infamous rose tint. I am so excited to try out these products and write a review but I just wanted to show you guys this mini haul quickly! Did I mention I got a free masacara?! That’s right Myer’s highest selling product was thrown in for free when I bought the other two products, so I am stoked about this! Will post a review soon and will include swatches so keep an eye out.

Have a good day guys :)

Current Obsession

Surely it’s not just me who late at night wants that naughty snack. So I thought I’d share a quick and easy snack with you that’s half naughty, half good – strawberries with melted milk chocolate!!! Ok, if I am honest it is definitely still naughty… but what the heck, it’s delicious!

What you’ll need:

–          Strawberries

–          Cooking chocolate (I use cadbury’s chocolate melts – YUM!)

–          China bowl

–          Teaspoon

And it’s as easy as popping this in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time – taking it out, stirring – popping it back in until its melted (this all depends on how much chocolate you are  wanting to melt).

Voila! Easy, yummy snack! Enjoy :)

Here’s a pick of one I had a while back (best study snack ever!)

Review – Lioele Triple the Solution

I decided I wanted to start writing product reviews, so here is my review on a popular BB cream- Lioele’s Triple the Solution!

Description: UV Protection (SPF 30 pa ++) – Whitening, Wrinkle care, Oil and Acne Control. Triple skin skin solution create a young fresh look and with great flawless coverage. Non greasy, creamy and lightweight, this BB cream will allow your skin to breathe. This foundation substitute will not only provide you with coverage, it will help fade and brighten old acne blemishes with plant extracts such as Tangerine and Strawberry. (from

Packaging: The packaging is cute. It’s a cute girly pink and white design and has a great pump. The pump has good control and you are able to pump out as much as you want without accidently pumping out too much product. Because it’s a pump is as hygienic as you can get.

Results/Coverage: This product has medium/heavy coverage depending on how you apply it. Compared to other BB creams I have tried, it would definitely have the best coverage. On days where I don’t want to wear makeup but I just want to even out my skin tone, this is my go to.

When applying it at first it feels quite heavy but in saying that it does spread quite evenly. If you are going for a full coverage look I would suggest using this as your primer. It will even out the skin before putting on foundation (possibly eliminating the need for concealer completely).

Overall it’s a really great BB cream. The best I have tried to date. It gives my skin a nice glow and as someone with oily skin it is definitely wearable without the need to apply powder. Although if you are after a perfect matte look I would suggest using a powder.
