This week’s mission was to start using up some of the samples I have collected over the months and putting them to the test.
I stuck to testing four main products and these were: Benefit’s Fake Up, Benefit’s Coralista, Benefit’s That Gal and Super BB Cream by Skin79.
Firstly, Benefit’s Fake Up is a concealer which aims to hide dark circles and diffuse fine lines. I had a sample in light and I loved this as a spot concealer for my blemishes. My NC20 prolong wear concealer is perfect for brightening but too light to put on my everyday blemishes. I am definitely considering buy the full size of this as I am loving it!
Benefit’s Coralista was a nice change up as it was good to incorporate blush into my makeup looks this week as I am usually a bronzer only kind of a girl. It’s a beautiful coral colour which smells amazing (weird for a blush to smell amazing ey!) and applies beautifully leaving gorgeous peachy cheeks.
Benefit’s “That Gal” was another interesting product for me. This product has an amazing scent and applies very nicely leaving my skin with a beautiful though. Even though I love the scent of this product and it applies nicely I am not a big fan of a shiny primers due to my already shiny/oily skin. If you have dry skin and want a bit of glow then this is for you but if you have combination to oily skin like me maybe stay away from this product.
I had high hopes for the Super BB Cream as I believe it could be similar to my all-time favourite Lioele BB Cream. Unfortunately it wasn’t, I didn’t like they grey-ish tone it had and the coverage was nowhere near as close as the Lioele BB Cream.
So there is my mini review! Even though I didn’t love all of the products I used its good to try out different things! What products are you currently testing out? Hits or misses?
Today I will be doing a quick review of the Nudes Palette by Chi Chi.This palette is the perfect go-to palette. It has shimmers, it has matte colours, basically you could use this palette for the rest of your life and be a happy chappy due to the awesomely versitile colour selection. I can create simple eye looks, smokey dramatic eye looks and everything in between.
These retail for $23.95AUD at Target and Myer in Australia but I got mine when Chi Chi was having a sale on Xmas packs so it came with a blush and four of their mini lip glosses for $12AUD. I definitely regret not buying a few packs as these palettes make the perfect gift for that friend who is just starting out to expericned MUA’s. I find that these are creamy eyeshadows which don’t produce a lot of fall out and that’s why I love this palette. I wont lie, not all of the colours are super pigmented (mostly the matte shades) but if that’s the worse that’s happening its still fine by me – definitely buildable. This palette has also been compared to the Urban Decay naked palette which is perfect as its so hard to get your hands on in Australia without sending you broke!
If you are able to pick this palette up do it, its worth it!
So today I want to share with you my top 5 favourite makeup brushes. From left to right we have Real Techniques Powder Brush, Real Techniques Contour Brush, Sigma P84 Precision Angled, Sigma E40 Tapered Blendingand Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki.
Real Techniques Powder Brush – this is the perfect powder/all over face brush. It’s a huge fluffy brush and perfect as it’s so inexpensive.
Real Techniques Contour Brush – I know it says to use it for contouring but I use this baby for concealer and I love it! It applies my Prolongwear Concealer by MAC flawlessly. It’s a new discovery or mine but a favourite already!
Sigma P84 Precision Angled – another brush perfect for applying for concealer. Gets right in there and covers those dark circles up!
Sigma E40 Tapered Blending – only the most amazing brush for applying eye products and creating that perfect smokey eye – probably my favourite eye brush EVER!
Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki – perfect cream foundation applicator! I use this to apply my MAC studio fix and it always gives me a beautiful finish!
For the Real Techniques brushes you can pick them up here. See my affiliate links page for a coupon code to get $10 off your first order. Same for Sigma, you can pick them up at Sigma Beauty but be sure to check out my affiliate links page for coupon details :)
So there you have it, what are your favourite makeup brushes?
Today I will be reviewing the Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. I’m not going to lie; at first I didn’t like this foundation. I used it once, I realised I had picked a colour too light for me (as it’s so hard to colour match on point at the shops) so I stashed it at the back of my closet. Recently I was going through my makeup and decided I needed a clean out and before throwing it out once and for all I decided I would try it again and see how it looked.
It’s the perfect match! It’s coming into winter now and as I have lost some of my tan this colour is now the perfect match for my skin! I have shade 825 Buff Beige and it’s honest to goodness the perfect colour match. I got this for $10AUD from Priceline on sale but it usually costs $19.95AUD which is still cheap for a foundation.
I’m so glad I decided to try it out again before I chucked it as I have fallen in love with this foundation! If you follow me on instagram you would know how much I have been loving this product as its been in a lot of my MOTD’s recently.
So here’s the low down.. this baby is a long last formula which is a primer, concealer and foundation all in one. It does just that and more.. when wearing this I don’t need a powder as well, which is really odd as I always usually use a powder, especially on my t-zone. Which is why this is the perfect everyday foundation for me. Its weightless, it’s easy to apply and despite not being a super full coverage foundation, this is certainly very buildable.
If you are working an 8 hour day and want an everyday long lasting but not super thick foundation then you have to go out and buy this product (just make sure you get your colour right!).
So today I am doing my second empties post. You can check out my first empties posts here. I love reading empties posts as if you have empties it’s a good indictor you like the product as you are using it all up! So here goes..
Girlz Only Dry Shampoo in Party Nights – this stuff is a bargain for $2! Jordybeautyspot put me onto this product! I go through dry shampoo fairly quickly so to have a bottle for $2 which is just as good as Bastile for 1/5th of the price is just awesome. Plus the scent of this product is so much nicer!
Would I repurchase? Most definitely!
Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste (Whitening) – this tooth paste is my holy grail! I am on my fifth tube probably. I have VERY sensitive teeth cause I grind my teeth during my sleep so I swear by this stuff! If you are like me and have sensitive teeth go pick up some of this stuff!
Would I repurchase? Sure will! Already have a stockpile of this stuff at home!
Olay Total Effects Moisturiser – This is my second bottle of the stuff and I already have bought my third. Love it, live it! Best moisturizer I have come across and it appears in my current skincare routine post which you can read here.
Would I repurchase? Yup! Already have one on hand and ready to roll!
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara – I feel like Lauren Curtis should be getting a huge cut for the sale of this product as I picked it up as per her recommendation and havnt looks back! So cheap and such a good mascara.
So today is a special day. Today is my one year blog anniversary! How crazy is that!?
To this day only a few people in my personal life know I have a blog. Why you ask? I like to keep this as my escape. A space free of judgement where I can express my own opinions about things I am passionate about. Ask me a year ago if I expected to be welcomed into an amazing blogging community where I would make numerous friends online who I talk to on a daily basis and I would have laughed at you. It’s amazing how many people I have met “online met” through blogging and I truly value their friendship.
In high school English was my worst subject. This is partly the reason I don’t tell people I blog as I struggle to express my opinions concisely in coherent English and I’m afraid people will laugh at my failed attempt at blogging. But here I am, a year later, still not perfect, but continuing to blog about my passion for beauty, fashion and lifestyle.
So I wanted to share with you a few lessons I have learnt over the year:
Be patient – followers don’t come overnight. It’s a slow process, so remember that.
Don’t be “in it to win it” – and by this I mean if you are blogging for the freebies then you are doing this for the wrong reason.
Be dedicated – I easily could have given up with my blog and thrown the towel in but it’s through sheer dedication and persistence that I am blogging to this day.
Have fun – remember this is a blog – have fun with it! Play with colours, experiment with posts, what’s the worse that can happen!
Get connected – join blogging communities on Facebook and Instagram, you will make so many friends!
Today I’m sharing with you my face dream team that I use when I am wanting a full coverage foundation base for a night out clubbing!!
Firstly, primer. It’s no secret I have chosen Porefessional by Benefit. I don’t have huge pores so instead I use this as a base and I just find its keeps my foundation matte throughout the night and doesn’t move the product around my face, it just helps it all stay put!
Secondly, foundation. I’m not going to lie, the first few times I used MAC Studio Fix I didn’t like it. I thought the hype was overrated and I wasn’t getting the coverage I required from it. It’s definitely a buildable foundation not going on heavy in your first layer. You definitely have to build up to it so depending on how much coverage you like/are after, this product creates the perfect look. Its also very light (which is surprising) and you don’t feel like your skin is stiff and unable to breath like some other full coverage foundations are. Will definitely be repurchasing this. It’s not an everyday foundation for me but I havnt been out clubbing since I purchased this product and not wearing Studio Fix.
Lastly, concealer. The hype is real! This product is worth it! Don’t waste any more time umm’ing and arr’ing about it, GO GET IT NOW! I did get mine from America so it only cost me $19 + tax instead of the $32 it costs in Australia so if you are confident ordering online from America definitely do it. I would even go as far to say that its worth the $32 Australian Dollars as with this product a little goes a LONGGG way. It’s a little pump bottle and this product just spreads so far and you would only need half a pump per use. It brightens and highlights and there is just not a bad word I can say about this product.
So there you have it! My dream team products for a full coverage face for a night out! What is your dream team?
