So being Sunday yesterday it was the perfect time to clean my makeup brushes. I’m not going to lie this is my least favourite thing about beauty, the chores! It’s like plucking your eyebrows or removing nail polish, no one enjoys those tasks. We like the application and playing around. None of this cleaning business *sigh* regardless, it has to be done to avoid nasty bacteria that can build up on the brushes.
So here’s how I tackle this boring chore. A few YouTuber’s have put me onto using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo so that’s what I use, you can pick it up from your local supermarket.
Other than that you just need some tap water and your own hands (oh and your dirty makeup brushes of course). I do this into my sink and I squirt a bit of the shampoo in the nook where the soap usually sits. This way I just pick up my brush, drench it in water, dip it in the shampoo and clean away (using gentle circular motions).
Please note, for bigger/denser brushes I recommend repeating this process a few times until clear water runs from the brush when you squeeze the excess water out.
You’ll then need to let these babies dry possibly overnight (that’s how long my big fluffy brushes take). Make sure you have your brushes drying upside down as you don’t want to have them the other way around and then the water eat away at the glue and cause bristles to fall out :)
So today is Sunday and normally I won’t bother to post on the weekend but I’m feeling awesome and want to share with you some good news. Today I picked up a new camera. A Canon 700D. I was thinking about getting a new camera for a while now but today I bit the bullet and bought it. I was previously using my Nikon 90D for photos on my blog or my iphone but I want to use my Canon now so I can give you better quality shots which will hopefully portray more accurate images in terms of colour and quality of products so yay :)
I snapped a few pics and I can already tell the quality of this baby is amazing! So here’s my FOTD. Have a splendid weekend beauties
So I just wanted you share with you my social media accounts so you can go and follow them :) I will be doing a giveaway soon and you must be subscribed to my social media accounts to participate so please go follow me :)
So today I am sharing with you my current skincare routine.
When it comes to skincare I generally don’t stray from my beloved products cause when something’s not broke why fix it right? So I have been using these products for at least a year now, and when I’m completely honest that’s how far back it was I decided to take care of my skin which is actually kinda bad but I’m into skincare now so I hopefully haven’t done too much damage to my skin before that! (Eep) I’ve never really had bad skin which is why I never used to do more than use a very basic cleanser in the morning and night. I now use a range of products to really look after my skin so here goes…
For an everyday cleanser I like to use Biore’s Pore Unclogging Scrub.I love a cleanser that has scrubbing beads in it as I love the feeling of the beads really getting under my skin and giving it a good clean so this is perfect for me. It’s not harsh so it’s the perfect everyday cleanser.
For when I’ve come back from a night out I like to use Michael Todd’s Honey and Oat Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser as I find this is the perfect cleanser for removing heavy makeup. This gem never fails to get rid of the darkest circles of run down mascara under my eyes. It’s such a gentle cleanser as well so it feels beautiful on the skin.
For what I can’t 100% get removed with my Michael Todd’s cleanser I like to use Lancôme’s Non Oily Instant Cleanser for sentiment eyes. I simply put a bit of this on a cotton bud and wipe under the eyes. It instantly gets any darkness left under the eyes and leaves me feeling instantly fresher!
Lastly, the only moisturizer I have found that doesn’t break me out and leave me oily is Olay’s Day Cream. This moisturizer is a god sent and I probably will never change. It just works, it’s as simple as that!
What products do you use in your skincare routine?
I’m currently in Hawaii how crazy is that but I wanted to get a post up for you! This is the makeup I wore to my friends 21st birthday :)
Products I used were… Primer: porefessional Foundation: lioele triple the solution and revlon colorstay in nude Powder: elf’s tone correcting powder under the eye and then Australis fresh and flawless over the face Bronzer: NARS Laguna Blush: elf’s peachy keen Brows: elf brow kit in light Eyeshadow: naked 2 palette and the kleancolour eyes and cheeks Eyeliner: essence thin liner Mascara: jordana extreme lash mascara Falsies: cherry blossom Lips: NYX butler gloss in meringue
I have a confession…. I am an online shopping addict and cannot control myself! I feel like there needs to be more support groups for this kind of thing haha!
But my downfall if your good luck as today I am bringing you a haul!
All these goodies were purchased from Beauty Joint which is an amazing online cosmetic retailer that ships internationally. This is where I like to get all my drugstore products like elf/NYX/KleanColor as its so much cheaper than it is in Australia (for NYX) and most of the other products are not even available for purchase here.
So today I thought I would do a one branded makeup look. I picked ELF Cosmetics as I recently picked up a few more products and have enough to do a full face look :) ELF is probably the cheapest makeup brands I have come across that actually have decent products. ELF does have a number of hits and misses and despite the brands misses when ELF hits it hits hard!! A hit from ELF is their amazing eye brow kit which trumps anything I have ever tried. I am also a huge fan of their studio blush in peachy keen which leaves the softest peach glow on your cheeks. I pick up my ELF products from here or here.
In reviewing the ELF products I do have to mention that I am still undecided how I feel about a few of the products as I haven’t used them long enough to form a full opinion on how they work for me. It was my first time using the liquid foundation and powder and I mean for a foundation that cost me $3 I can’t really complain but I found it did give me that sticky sunscreen feeling if that makes any sense (also the bottles pump came broken so that sucks as I had to open up the bottle and swipe it on the back of my hand which isnt very hygienic).. I found the powder did help with the shininess that the foundation left me but it definitely wasn’t a mattifying/full coverage powder. I tried the bronzer from the bronzer and blush duo as well for the first time and I had no idea it would be so pigmented and swept a lot more than I expected onto my face. Don’t you hate that?! I then used the Studio Blush in Peachy Keen which I absolutely adore. This is probably my favourite blush I have ever come across, such a beautiful colour! As usual I used the eyebrow kit and then used the waterproof eyeliner. Now this was interesting to work with as I think mine had dried out so it was a bit of a mission to apply. I finished up with mascara and I had to use my Jordana Extreme Lash Mascara as I didn’t own an ELF mascara (so nearly 100% elf haha).
Anyways, so there it is, did you enjoy this full branded makeup look? If so, what brand should I try next?
