BOE Beauty Lipstick Review and Swatches

Hi Guys,

So BOE Beauty primarily started as a budget line of cosmetics sold at Big W with all products retailing for $2. Since then they have expanded and developed a BOE Professional range with foundations, BB creams, eyeshadow palettes, creamy lipsticks and more..

Today however, I am reviewing and swatching some of the lipsticks that are in the $2 BOE Beauty range and boy are they good bang for your buck.

I’m not going to lie, I held pretty low expectations for these lipsticks. I mean how good can a lipstick that’s $2 be? Uhmmm amazing apparently! I am so blown away by these lipsticks. These lipsticks are creamy and pack a punch in terms of pigmentation. They apply extremely well and have great staying power. The colours pack a certain wow-factor and are the perfect weekend/night on the town shades. I couldn’t believe how similar the shade V.I.P is to MAC’s Saint Germain.

I also like to dap a bit of the melon pigment by MAC on top of the shade Primped Matte for a bit more dimension (see below for picks).

Overall, these lipsticks are amazing value for money. Whilst their packaging isn’t fancy, for a $2 budget lipstick it’s impossible to find a fault with these babies. If you haven’t picked one up already you need to and can find these at your local Big W.

Expect to see more reviews of BOE Beauty products, so keep your eyes peeled!

Until next time..

Top 5 Lip Creams

Hi Guys,

So today I am posting about my top 5 lip creams or lip glosses that work like lipsticks (as you can tell I was unsure what to call this :P). I suppose it’s cause lip glosses that give a lipstick effect are relatively new. They are all the rage at the moment but if you look back a few years ago I’m pretty sure they just didn’t exist (correct me if I’m wrong :P). I love the idea of a lip cream. I struggle hard core when applying lipstick so the fact that makeup company’s have made it easier for us lipstick strugglers is great. Anyways, onto the top 5 I picked.

(Left to right: Rimmel London’s Apocalips in Big Bang, Australis Veloulips in MALIBOO, NYX Soft Matter Lip Cream in Addis Abada, Rimmel London’s Apocalips in Luna and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm)

I LOVEE all of these babies and wear them on a regular basis. I have done reviews on three out of the five I have picked to make sure you go and check them out too. But I just love these. Like I said, I’m not the best at applying lipstick, despite how hard I try. I always seem to overdraw and then my lips become uneven rah rah rah, probably all stem backs to primary school days when I just never learnt to colour in the lines properly lol! So yeh, these products have just made wearing colour on my lips that much easier.

Image

  • Rimmel London’s Apocalips in Big Bang – this is a super bright red shade that really packs the punch!
  • Australis Veloulips in MALIBOO – Australis really upted their game when it comes to lip products and this matte lip cream is no exception. The colour payout is the exact same as the packaging and I absolutely love this product, its a must buy!
  • NYX Soft Matter Lip Cream in Addis Abada – NYX has done it again! I am never disappointed with NYX products so its no surprise one of their lip matte creams made it into the top 5. Its a beautiful hot pink shade that’s perfect for a night out :)
  • Rimmel London’s Apocalips in Luna – This product is deceptively orange making this a lot bolder than the nude/peach I thought I had purchased. Never the less I love this product as orange colours always compliment blue eyes.
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Charm – This one is a bit less pigmented than the others so if you want something subtle but still provides colour and shine then this if your baby. It also has a yummy minty taste to it so you’ll be applying it all day :)

What are your favourite lip matte creams?

Until next time..

How I clean my makeup brushes #bbloggers

Hi Guys,

So being Sunday yesterday it was the perfect time to clean my makeup brushes. I’m not going to lie this is my least favourite thing about beauty, the chores! It’s like plucking your eyebrows or removing nail polish, no one enjoys those tasks. We like the application and playing around. None of this cleaning business *sigh* regardless, it has to be done to avoid nasty bacteria that can build up on the brushes.

Image

So here’s how I tackle this boring chore. A few YouTuber’s have put me onto using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo so that’s what I use, you can pick it up from your local supermarket.

Image

Other than that you just need some tap water and your own hands (oh and your dirty makeup brushes of course). I do this into my sink and I squirt a bit of the shampoo in the nook where the soap usually sits. This way I just pick up my brush, drench it in water, dip it in the shampoo and clean away (using gentle circular motions).

Image

Please note, for bigger/denser brushes I recommend repeating this process a few times until clear water runs from the brush when you squeeze the excess water out.

Image

You’ll then need to let these babies dry possibly overnight (that’s how long my big fluffy brushes take). Make sure you have your brushes drying upside down as you don’t want to have them the other way around and then the water eat away at the glue and cause bristles to fall out :)

Review: Bubblegum Lip Scrub by Lush

WOW! What a brilliant product! I really could stop there and that would some it up right there and then but I wanted to share with you why this is such a brilliant product. Now, being a lip scrub, it’s definitely not on the top of the list of must by beauty products like foundation and mascara but this is a product that you don’t realise how beneficial it is until you try it.

The smell is bewitching, and as the label suggests it possesses a strong bubblegum smell. My favourite part about this lip scrub is that it’s completely edible as its made with sugar and flavouring. I mean, for the price it is a bit exy when you consider it’s just a bit of sugar and flavouring but who really has time to make their own lip scrub nowadays. A weird thing about this scrub is that as awesome as it is for it to be edible, it’s kind of gross when you realise you are actually eating the dead skin cells off your lips (but what harm can a few dead skin cells do right!!?).

Now to the actual product, this baby works like a gem! I don’t have dry or chapped lips but I notice just how soft my lips feel after I use this product! I do however recommend following this process up by applying a moisturising lip balm to lock in that soft feeling. I have had this product for a few months now and other than when my sisters boyfriend stuck his finger in and pulled out WAYY too much product the jar looks barely touched. I can see this pot is going to last me a long time and will be an essential during the colder months :)

Overall, this product is amazing and totally worth $10AUD. If you havnt picked it up already get to it! Your lips will be lush :)
